Overview

A freestanding ER in Tyler, TX is seeking a MRI/CT Technologist to join their team. The MRI/CT Technologist ER at Hospitality Health ER cares for all patients including neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatrics. The MRI/CT Technologist will strive to provide proficient, competent care while maintaining the patient’s sense of comfort and dignity.

Responsibilities for the MRI/CT Technologist

  1. Operating MRI equipment to capture diagnostic images of designated portions of patient body as prescribed by physician.
  2. Addressing patient concerns during the procedures and explaining the MRI process to the patient in a way that is informative but also reassuring.
  3. Using tact, courtesy and poise when dealing with patients, keeping them calm and ensuring that they get the best care possible.
  4. Screening patients for MRI safety prior to procedure performance.
  5. Maintaining patient care, comfort, and safety during transport to and from the imaging table.
  6. Preparing and positioning the patient for the MRI examination.
  7. Obtaining the MRI data in a manner suitable for interpretation by the physician.
  8. Performing frequent quality control testing in accordance with the MRI manufacturer’s recommendations.
  9. Viewing images of area being scanned to ensure quality of images.
  10. Administering gadolinium contrast dosage intravenously.
  11. Processing patient data into the computer such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, age, weight, and position of entry.
  12. Performing equipment quality checks and troubleshoot problems.
  13. Maintaining a clean environment inside and outside of the MRI scan room.
  14. Performing Radiological procedures when not performing MRI Duties.
  15. Cooperating with facility healthcare personnel and complying with facility policies and procedure.
  16. Not limited to working other modalities as needed.
  17. Preparing and positioning patients on the exam table appropriately and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  18. Moves x‐ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  19. Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient and staff.

Requirements and Qualifications for the MRI/CT Technologist

  • Customer service experience: demonstrated ability in customer service practice related to direct patient care in a high volume, high stress environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, impeccable organizational skills, and time management skills.
  • Meeting performance expectations and holding oneself accountable for all actions.
  • Maintaining current licensure and education requirements.
  • Flexibility to meet scheduling demands of department; position will require a minimum of two weekend shifts to be worked. A weekend is defined as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Able to work unsupervised; willingness to take an initiative and ability to work as a team member/independently to perform job responsibilities and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer applications, such an email and MS office, and office equipment.
  • Demonstrated competency of position responsibilities and requirements within 90 days, as evaluated by Supervisor.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiological Sciences or pre‐approved equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiology Technology in MRI; registry must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
  • Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (MRT).
  • Current CPR certification.
